Gina: LAP-BAND Surgery

Bariatric surgery results Gina
LAP-BAND Surgery: July 2008
Weight Lost: 125lb

Let me start by saying that I Love My Band!!

I am 51 years old and it’s been nine months since I was banded and have lost 125 pounds so far. I have 23 more pounds to lose to reach my goal and I will do this. I am sure of this thanks to the Lapband.

I have been overweight my entire adult life and like so many others have tried diet after diet with no success. I felt like a total failure until I had the band. Dr. Bagnato and his staff gave me the tool, the Lapband that changed it all. Dr. Bagnato and his staff also gave me moral support to get me through it. They were right there whenever I had a question or a concern. They did a great job in explaining the procedure to me and coaching me as to what I needed to know and do to be a successful lapbander.

I would recommend Dr. Bagnato and the Lapband system to anyone who needs to lose weight. You can be successful as long as you follow the guidelines. It has not been a difficult journey and if I can do it, so can you.

*Surgical weight loss results vary between individuals depending on initial weight, existing medical conditions and adherence to prescribed treatments. Speak to Dr. Bagnato about the results you can expect.

I’m scheduled to be banded on Sept 4th. I’m looking forward to losing about 150lbs. Do you have any suggestions or tips to offer to help me along my way?

My best piece of advice is to follow the band guidelines. Protein first, than fruits and vegetables, no drinking with your meals, no grazing between meals, and I kept track of my daily calorie intake on one of the on-line sites like fitday.com. Good luck on your journey.

I agree with Gina. Protein first. I just followed the guidelines and made sure to not drink with my meals. The other thing is that I made it a point to NOT weigh myself all the time. I actually just bought a scale and I’ve had my band for a year…DOWN 65 LBS…

Hi Lisa. Be sure to watch out for high calorie drinks or protein bars with alot of sugar. That was a hard thing for me. As a working mom, I needed things that were gonna be fast. I found a whey protein “shot” that was just 3 oz and contained about 40 gms of protein. This made it easy for me. Since I am a “grazer” I had fun finding different yet healthy foods to try. I bring my groceries to work and actually pass along the food ideas to my non-banded coworkers. So we’re all eating healthy together. I think if you don’t look at it as a diet and continue to think of it as a lifestyle, you’ll find ways to make it fun and interesting….AND JUST WATCH THE WEIGHT FALL OFF….Good luck and keep me posted.

lisa, i do protein first..even drinking one of those “tubes” that has 46 grms of protein each day…that is my “breakfast” …it is called “New Whey and comes in several flavors…I like grape best…Then Water, water, water. I do well with that MOST of the time…..I am down 70 lbs…my two yr “bandaversary” was last week and i love it!
