Deborah C : Lap Band Surgery

Hello! My name is Deborah Coker. I began my journey on February 9, 2009 weighing in at 349 pounds.

As you can tell by the look on my face I was not happy. I knew I had to have the Lap-band to save my life! I received my lap-band on February 26th (now my 2nd birthday) and my life was changed for the better. I have discovered that there will be ups and downs on this journey but that’s ok. Life happens. I had gotten to a place in mind that I felt I had “arrived” and fell off the wagon. I had ups and downs with my band and gained back up to 300 lbs. That was a turning point for me! I never wanted to see that number on the scale again. My husband and I joined WW also know as Weight Watchers and I have lost down to 260 lbs. This program is teaching me to be mindful of what is good for my body, to eat healthy. Incorporating this program with my lap-band has jumped started my journey. There is no magic pill, program, or surgery that will get the weight off! You have to want to get healthy and work at losing it. I was raised knowing that anything worth having is worth working for – I AM WORTH THE WORK!! You are worth the work – keep eating healthy, drinking water, and moving a little more each day!! Remember it’s a journey that is taken a step at the time. The look on my face in my “during” picture shows a much happier and more confident woman.
