  • Lean Proteins: it takes your body a long time to break down proteins, which means you’re satisfied for longer and are less likely to snack between meals. Proteins are also important for building muscle mass, which helps you burn more calories. Legumes, lean poultry, and low-fat dairy products are proteins are great sources of lean proteins. Aim to include a protein source in every meal.
  • Green Tea: substituting coffee with green tea may help boost your metabolism so you naturally burn more calories during the day. Green tea has also been shown to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer.
  • Water: although technically a beverage, you can’t overlook the importance of drinking plenty of water when you’re trying to lose weight. I had the lapband on April 5, 2010. It is the best thing in life I have ever done for me! I have done well with it and hope to keep it the rest of my life. It is a fantastic tool that does not allow you to cheat……much. I admit that I have tried some bites of food that I was craving. But, guess what? The lapband said no and I learned my lesson. God bless Dr. Bagnato and his wonderful bariatric staff. I am so thankful that God sent me to them. Sandra Askew

Try to shop the perimeter of the grocery store. That is where you will find all of the fresh meats and produce which are healthy for you to eat. Try to stay away from the processed foods which are found on the center aisles. Always remember to eat your protein first at every meal.
